As a child, Amie Sedie did not go to school because her parents could not afford it, leaving her unable to learn to read and write.

Now, however, she runs a growing business selling rice, palm oil, cocoa and Maggi cubes. She also has a rice paddy and grows groundnuts and potato leaf (the leaf of the sweet potato plant).

She said: “The training that Prosper gave me helped me to understand how to manage my money better. I can now keep track of it, and I know how much I have to save and how much I can use for my income.”

Before attending the Prosper training, Amie’s biggest challenge was that sometimes her business would collapse because she could not cover all her costs. She lacked the knowledge and understanding to know how much money she could take from her business.

Through the image-based training, she came to understand how to grow her business. The savings banks also help her to manage her money by supporting her to save and track how much money she has. She uses her savings bank group payout to buy stock.

During the training programme, she learned about customer service which has also helped improve her business.
